How di I keep fondant flexible?

im making my friend a cheetah cake out of fondant and i don’t want the fondant to get dry and crack before she receives it. what should i use to keep the fondant flexible and easy to work with. Also any suggestions as to how to make a good cheetah pattern? Thanks!

The 4 year old “teenager” is being playful and fun. She had her birthday cake made of raw hamburger meat with egg topping and 4 candles. The balloons woke up her curiosity but she didn’t feel like putting the hat on. . . the old feather pillow was soon completely destroyed. This year no dog as a gift to “play” with. . . ;P
Cheetah print cake–tacky or not?

What do you think? If a fondant-covered cake had a cheetah print on one of the tiers, would it look cute or tacky? The other tiers are a hot pink one with stripes of white, brown and pale pink, and a brown one with pale pink floral designs. There’s a cascade of large white flowers with pink and brown centers and brown patterning that will go down the tiers, and fondant beads on spiral silver wire as a topper. Is the cheetah print too much? This is a birthday cake for someone who’s turning 27.
