Question by felixandme: Best Chocolate Cake recipe you know?
I’m talking death by insane amounts of chocolate cake. Do you have a recipe you like. I’m sure I’ll get people who just copy one from the net, but I’d prefer if its one you’ve tried and love!

Answer by Poutine
This is fast, easy, moist and very TASTY!
YUM!

CHOCOLATE CAKE
1 ½ cup flour
3 tbsp cocoa
1 tsp soda
1 cup sugar
½ tsp salt
1/3 cup oil (I prefer canola.)
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp vinegar
1 cup cold water
Put dry ingredients in a bowl. Make a well in the center.
Put the oil, vanilla and vinegar in the center.
Pour the cold water over and stir to mix.
Pour batter into 8×8 pan.
Bake ½ hour @ 350F.

I like topping it with whipped cream, and raspberries (and if I am feeling really decadent chocolate sauce with Kaluha in it). :)

Does anyone know where to find/of a really good lemon poppyseed cake recipe?

Question by Emma: Does anyone know where to find/of a really good lemon poppyseed cake recipe?
I really want to make some cupcakes like this but am having a hard time finding a good recipe. They all seem to be dense pound cakes or breads or muffins and I really want a nice, light, moist cake with a good lemon flavour. Even if its just a great lemon cake I can always put poppyseeds into it- either would be great.

Best answer:

Answer by Kyle Bonnyman
Try a poppyseed cake and put in lemon juice(about 3 tablespoons) to a liquid(usually milk)…so, it the recipe calls for 1.2 cup of milk, the milk should be 1/2 cup minus 3 tablespoons…

Question by kimberlyann_4748: Do you know of any good bundt cake recipes ?
Hey, I have this stadium bundt cake pan and I’ve never used it because I can never find a good enough recipe. I’ve been looking online for bundt cake recipes but nothing really tickles my fancy. I’d like to make it for the superbowl. So I’m looking for a recipe that everyone is going to love, personal experiences are surely welcomed. I’ve never made a bundt cake before. I’ll take anything!
okay thank you. i have the pan, so i guess i can use any recipe :) thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by ?single serving friend?
It’s not really a cake, but it’s typically made in a bundt cake pan and would be a perfect snack for the superbowl, since you just kind of pull it apart…monkey bread! Yum! :) Or, you could go with a classic rum cake or gingerbread cake, or some kind of lemon cake with a lemon or cream cheese-like glaze/icing. Yummo. :)

i have never made this before, but it sounds easy and simple.

INGREDIENTS
* 1 cup white sugar
* 1/2 cup butter
* 2 eggs
* 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
* 1/2 cup milk

DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×9 inch pan or line a muffin pan with paper liners.
2. In a medium bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine flour and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Finally stir in the milk until batter is smooth. Pour or spoon batter into the prepared pan.
3. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven. For cupcakes, bake 20 to 25 minutes. Cake is done when it springs back to the touch.

I need to make a cake today, but I have no way of getting to the shop to buy eggs. I have milk, flour, butter, salt, oil, granulated sugar, caster sugar, icing sugar and food colouring. Does anyone know any eggless cake recipes which only use these ingredients.

You need to have a leavening agent of some sort. Baking soda can be used as an effective leavening agent, most ppl keep some of that in their homes. Or baking powder as well. Other than substituting those things I can’t think of any other suggestions.

Question by Icecream: What is the BEST chocolate cake recipe you know that would taste good with candy bars on top?
I need a really good chocolate cake recipe, and I plan to top it with a snickers bar or something. It has to be amazing, its for a familys birthday and i really want them to LOVE it!

Best answer:

Answer by Sugar Pie
Both of these are amazing. The first one uses a cake mix, and could certainly be topped w/ chopped candy bars once you spread whipped cream on it. The second one is from scratch and rich and dark. Whether you use a mix or from scratch is up to you. Either one is worth the effort!

• 3 eggs
• 1 3/4 cup whipping cream
• 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Combine butter, whipping cream and brown sugar. Cook over low hear until butter is melted, stirring, Pour into 2 8-9 in round pans. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. In bowl, beat cake mix, water, oil and eggs at low speed until moistened, then beat at high speed for two min. Spoon over pecan mixture.

CHOCOLATE LAYER CAKE

Butter, for greasing the pans
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for pans
2 cups sugar
3/4 cups good cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup buttermilk, shaken
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 extra-large eggs, at room temperature
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup freshly brewed hot coffee
Chocolate Buttercream, recipe follows

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter 2 (8-inch) round cake pans. Line with parchment paper, then butter and flour the pans.

Sift the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt into the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment and mix on low speed until combined. In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. With the mixer on low speed, slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry. With mixer still on low, add the coffee and stir just to combine, scraping the bottom of the bowl with a rubber spatula. Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, until a cake tester comes out clean. Cool in the pans for 30 minutes, then turn them out onto a cooling rack and cool completely.

Place 1 layer, flat side up, on a flat plate or cake pedestal. With a knife or offset spatula, spread the top with frosting. Place the second layer on top, rounded side up, and spread the frosting evenly on the top and sides of the cake.

Chocolate Buttercream Frosting:

1/2 cup butter, softened
2/3 cup cocoa powder
½ tsp. instant coffee granules
2 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups confectioners’ sugar
6-8 tablespoons water, depending upon thickness you want

With electric mixer on high, beat butter until fluffy. Beat in cocoa powder, doffee, and vanilla on low. Gradually beat in confectioners’ sugar, alternating with water, until desired thickness is achieved. For thinner frosting use more water. For thicker frosting, use less water.
