The Kraft recipe that calls for a yellow cake mix, then you add the Pistachio pudding mix & some other things, but can I use a Yellow cake from scratch recipe instead and just add the pudding mix to that? I don’t have a box cake.

I used to make this when I was a kid. The recipe called for the crust to be made with some of the batter, and the filling was made with the rest of it. I don’t think it was Duncan Hines but I could be wrong. Betty Crocker? Who esle was there?
